Utmost International has entered into a two-year corporate partnership with MWT and has sponsored MWT Onchan Community Wetland!

Utmost International has entered into a two-year corporate partnership with Manx Wildlife Trust and has sponsored their nature reserve, MWT Onchan Community Wetlands. Utmost International’s Corporate Partnership of £4000 per year will support the reserve’s planned maintenance and enhancement program and will allow the existing community group to purchase vital tools and storage. The reserve is conveniently located in central Onchan and is approximately a ten minute walk from the Utmost International Office. Therefore, both organisations look forward to welcoming the Utmost International team onto the reserve to join the existing community group helping with both maintenance and citizen science projects.

Leigh Morris, MWT CEO says:

“It’s always heartening to see an international business so committed to making a difference locally. The support from Utmost International will enhance this area for the wildlife that lives there and the many residents in the area. Nature reserves don’t have to be huge and this small green space in the heart of the Onchan community is an important location for us. Sometimes, something as simple as watching the ducklings at a local pond can inspire a lifelong love for wildlife and with Utmost’s generous support, we can now develop our rebranded MWT Onchan Community Wetlands as place for even more people to connect with and enjoy nature for years to come.”

Mike Foy, CEO of Utmost International says

“Utmost International is committed to having a positive impact to both the lives of our employees, and the communities in which we operate. We know that access to green spaces is beneficial to people’s wellbeing and we’re looking forward to getting outside to make a difference to a community run nature reserve right on our doorstep.”

An important benefit of MWT Onchan Community Wetlands is the site’s proximity to people and community. Manx Wildlife Trust would like to see the space more utilised by the public and is hoping to encourage people to the reserve. As well as tools and storage, Utmost International’s support will allow other maintenance plans to take place. These include extending and improving the existing boardwalk, updating the boundary fencing and providing seating and information boards.

Working with local businesses and their employees is an important part of Manx Wildlife Trust’s Team Wilder project. Team Wilder aims to get 1 in 4 people engaging with nature and taking action to protect and nurture their local wild spaces. Through working alongside the Island’s business community, Manx Wildlife Trust hopes to engage with new audiences, empowering them to help nature’s recovery locally.
