About us

Wildlife Limited operates all commercial activities undertaken by Manx Wildlife Trust, including our gift shop in Peel and ecological consulting under the trading name Ecology Vannin. We are currently exploring new opportunities to expand our work, and enable the core charity to have a greater positive impact for Manx nature. All profits made by our ventures are paid out as dividends to Manx Wildlife Trust, providing crucial funding for the preservation of nature on the Island.

Who are we looking for?

We're seeking two individuals with some or all of the following skills to join our Board of Directors:

  • Experience working with small retail outlets, and/or on-line retail sales
  • Broader knowledge of working with commercial activities in a charity environment
  • Expertise in marketing and communications, including digital
  • Experience in the provision or management of professional consultancy services
  • Company Secretary skills, including meeting organisation, filing of external forms, and communication with the board

We welcome applicants with a keen interest in nature. Previous experience of board work is a positive. You may have a background in the commercial sector and are looking for an opportunity to use your skills in a setting that benefits the environment. Even if you don't have all of the above skills, we encourage you to apply. Manx Wildlife Trust are a knowledgeable team of friendly people, with a passion for our Island’s wildlife and nature. If you would like to use your professional skills to help MWT help nature, while at the same time enjoying being immersed and learning about our environment and the work MWT do, then we’d love to hear from you.

Requirements and Commitment

This is a voluntary position, so directors are not remunerated. Board meetings are held at least four times a year (typically hybrid meetings at MWT office/on-line), with additional meetings held as necessary. Directors should be prepared to devote time to meeting preparation and be available for ad hoc discussions and task and finish groups on particular topics between Board meetings.
