Practical Conservation Volunteers

Volunteer ref: Midweek Muckers

Opportunity type: Work Party

Available: Thursdays

Frequency: Weekly

Duration: From 04/08/2015 to 29/09/2015

Join our trusty band of volunteer practical conservationists, or "Muckers" as they're better known!

Can you spare a Thursday morning or two during August and September to help out with practical tasks on our nature reserves?

Our team of practical conservation volunteers, or Midweek Muckers as they're better known, are a hardy bunch of souls who help Reserves Officer, Tricia Sayle, with a wide-range of jobs to maintain and enhance the Trust's 22 reserves.

You'll get to see some wonderful wildlife, spend time outdoors and it'll even help keep you fit!

Muckers meet every Thursday morning (9am to 1pm).

Complete beginners are always welcome, guidance is always provided, and there are plenty of challenging jobs for those who already have some conservation skills.

Some of the work can be quite physically demanding, but don’t let that put you off, there are always a variety of tasks and everyone works at their own pace.

Tools are provided, you just need old practical clothes, waterproofs and boots/wellies -- and lots of enthusiasm!! Tea and cake provided!

Muckers must be 16 years or older.

Many of our Muckers have made a weekly commitment to help.  While this is very much appreciated, we understand this is not suitable for everyone and would be happy have your help even if you can make just one or two Thursdays during August and September.

For a chat about the work involved and to find out more details on venues, frequency and hours, please contact the Trust’s Reserves Officer, Tricia Sayle, by phone: (01624) 844432 or (07624) 494143 or by email: tricia@manxwt.org.uk
