    Wildlife Code of Conduct

    Two members of the MWT team were today called to a seal pup hauled up on Fenella Beach in Peel. Fortunately, the pup was fine and patiently waiting for mum to return. However, many people do not realise that just by being too close to 'get a good look' they are endangering the seal pup. If it becomes stressed by people nearby it will attempt to return to the water where it could get hurt in the stormy sea.

  • Celebrating all things NOT plastic!

    A night to celebrate action against plastic pollution was held at Ballakermeen High School with presentations from Manx locals along with guest speaker Jo Ruxton, the producer of the acclaimed film A Plastic Ocean. Single use plastic pollution is a global phenomenon, but as a UNESCO Biosphere the Isle of Man has a perfect opportunity to become a pioneering island for way of a plastic-free life.

Dr Jan Gledhill, of DEFA, provided information on freshwater species followed by Dr Lara Howe, MWT, on marine species.
