Although our Festival of the Sea (FoS) event on the 18th and 19th July in Port Erin is unlikely to go ahead we would like to use this time to offer our FoS volunteers some training on the species commonly seen at the event.

We are running two training sessions for FoS volunteers to help upskill them when volunteering on the tanks.

There are two modules per training session, each lasting for a couple of hours. The first session is Tuesday 12th May at 7pm (for module one) and Thursday 14th May at 7pm (for module two). Both sessions will be run via Zoom online video conferencing. The second training session will be Tuesday 26th and Thur 28th May again at 7pm.

The idea is to upskill our volunteers with the marine knowledge so you can be better informed about the specimins in your tank at future FoS events. We will talk about health and safety, welfare of the animals and about the animals themselves. This training is specifically for people who would like more marine knowledge and will be volunteering either on the Saturday or the Sunday of future FoS events.

Sorry but, at this time, this training is not available to non FoS volunteers.

Places can be booked by emailing our Marine officer, Lara, directly on and you will then recieve a zoom invite to your chosen training session.

Zoom is an online video conferencing platform so you will need an internet ready device with screen and speakers to be able to view the training. You can download the app and find out more at
