We're looking for two enthusiastic people to join our team on the Calf of Man to drive continuing delivery of the Bird Observatory operations to achieve our mission for Manx nature and inspirational wildlife found on Island so that it is protected for future generations.

The Bird (or Ornithological) Warden is one of two posts administered and managed by the Manx Wildlife Trust (MWT) on behalf of Manx National Heritage (MNH). The principle responsibility of the Ornithology Warden is to maintain the Bird Observatory operations on the site, including all bird netting, trapping and ringing operations, bird recording and information dissemination. In addition, the Ornithology or Bird Warden will help the Estate Warden with general maintenance of the facilities.

The other post is the Estate Warden, whose role includes the maintenance and estate management of the Calf of Man, its Bird Observatory, and the machinery and infrastructure. The principle responsibility of the Warden is to carry out the habitat and estate management and maintenance of the Calf. In addition, the Estate Warden will carry out visitor liaison and assist the Bird (Ornithological) Warden where required.

Length of contract
Both posts are for the period of 36 weeks from early March 2019 (or as soon as possible thereafter) to late November 2019, with a probationary period of 2 months.

The salary for both posts is £17,144.40 p/a pro-rata. (equal to £329.70 per week for 36 weeks)
This will be paid monthly in arrears by bank transfer.
