Manx Wildlife Trust are partnering with UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man to enter a Wave Goodbye to Plastic tree into the Festival of Trees 2018 and we want to include your #ManxPlasticPledge.

We have been blown away by the response to our Wave Goodbye to Plastic campaign on social media. A quick search of #ManxPlasticPledge shows loads of people and businesses across the Isle of Man joining the effort to reduce the amount of single use plastic used on the Island. There are also some really great ideas to be found on how we can all easily reduce our reliance on plastics.

We now want to give people the opportunity to have their #ManxPlasticPledge included on a 10 foot high tree at the centre of Ronaldsway Airport. We want people to write their #ManxPlasticPledge onto a tag which will be tied on to a tree made from single use plastic. We will be at the Festival of the Sea in Port Erin on the 21st and 22nd July with a load of tags for people to fill in. As well as the usual Marine Mega Tanks, Wildlife Shop, Craft Workshop, Exhibitions, Games and Model Boats, we will have #ManxPlasticPledge tags ready for people to fill in. We will also have our huge plastic whale and a display with a range of information on the plastics issue.

Alternatively, you can download and print the PDF instructions to make your own #ManxPlasticPledge tag at the bottom of this page. Print it, make the tag and fill it in with your pledge then either bring it with you to the Festival of the Sea at Port Erin, drop it off at our Gift Shop in Peel or post it to us at Manx Wildlife Trust, 7-8 Market Place, Peel, IM5 1AB

So far #ManxPlasticPledge ideas have included; carrying a reusable water bottle, taking a reusable bag to the shops, refusing a drinks straw, taking a packed lunch in a reusable container or using bees wax wraps instead of clingfilm, using bar soap instead of a shampoo bottle in the shower and loads more. What ideas have you got to reduce the number of single use plastics in your life?

The Festival of Trees 2018 runs from 30th November 2018 to 6th January 2019 at Ronaldsway Airport and is in support of Save the Children.
