Ballachurry Reserve

Our nature reserves provide a safe haven for our wildlife

Manx Wildlife Trust owns and manages 24 reserves, which makes up around 300 acres. These are place where nature comes first, where wildlife is protected and thrives. Some of the open reserves also provide a haven for the public to enjoy and experience the diverse local wildlife. Understandably, managing these sites is resource demanding. Even with the support of the Midweek Muckers providing over 3,000 hours of their time each year, funding is key to continuing this vital work.

Legacy funding has supported the work on the 24 reserves by:

  • Enabling land to be purchased
  • Gifting of land
  • Maintenance and support of the varied reserves, including equipment purchases
  • Supporting the role of the Reserves Officer
